If you think this tour can’t get any better…….wow!
We are half way through this tour and yes we have been tired and sometimes our feet hurt but each day seems to bring more experiences than we even imagined. We have had such a variety of favorites and now for some reason Florence seems to be an overload of history, art and food. We have watched the Netflix series of the Medicis and so much of that history is woven into this city. We were awed by Michelangelo's David, Brunelleschi’s dome on the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio bridge , The Uffizi Gallery, and The Florence Central market.
We really appreciated having a guide in the Ufizzi Gallery, what an amazing collection of art. It was very helpful to have someone point out some of the most well known paintings as well as explain techniques of different painters. Our guide came to Florence from the United States many years ago to study art and she has never left.
There was a special moment as we were entering the Ufizzi, a mime was performing outside the gallery. A little girl was looking at him when he moved and she realized it wasn’t a statue. Her expression when she reached out for him was precious.
One of our best group dinners was in Florence, it was a 3 hour meal we thought might never end, but we loved every minute. We started with a salad , then a pasta trio, then beef prepared in front of us and then the desserts. The owner came out at the end and said there was a digestivo for each of us on the house. What a perfect ending to our time in Florence.
