Arriving in Beaune in the afternoon we checked into our creaky hotel that had a great deal of French charm.
We spent a little time exploring the town and had the opportunity to visit the Hospices de Beaune, a hospital for the poor. It was a beautiful building with glazed tile roof, one of many in the town.

Before dinner, we had a wine tasting in our hotel with a wine expert from a prestigious vintner. We kept saying this tour has it all. A well planned variety of experiences and we haven’t finished yet.
Beaune is a small village and has few tourists. Several of us decided to look for a local place for dinner. Our lack of language skills provided a wonderful time trying to communicate with our server. She was using sign language and we were all looking for pictures on our phones so we knew what we were ordering. She was so kind and enjoyed trying to communicate with us. Well, our meals were delicious and we were all pleased that our server was enjoying our lack of language skills too.
